Introduction To Insomia |
Have you recently been having sleepless nights
or have been awake for long periods of time? You might want to
consider getting yourself checked for Insomia. It is a sleep
disorder that is characterized by restless nights and the inability
to sleep for a long period of time. Insomnia is caused by several
factors such as fear, high levels of stress, anxiety, caffeine,
depression and sometimes for absolutely no reason at all! An
agitated or overactive mind can also cause Insomia. The disorder
severely impairs normal functioning such as energy levels, mood and
health. Drinking alcohol has also been known to cause problems
related to Insomnia. Bad sleeping habits and age also play a role in
causing the disorder. Although no one knows the underlying cause
with confidence, it is necessary to find it to cure the disorder.
There are three types of Insomia particularly Transient Insomnia,
Acute Insomia and Chronic Insomnia. Transient Insomia lasts for
shorter periods of time for example up to a week. The causes can
range from jet lag to anxiety. Acute insomia refers to the
inability of a person to sleep for long durations lasting three to
six months. Chronic Insomnia is considered the most dangerous and
serious of the three and lasts almost every night for months.
Some people might want to know how much sleep in generally regarded
as the “right amount”. Doctors recommend at least 8 to 10 hours a
day. Sleep deprivation can cause heartburns, drowsiness and several
other problems such as low energy levels. Therefore the foremost
step to avoid Insomia is to get the proper amount of sleep.
